Cervelo's new 2008 Road Bike: The RS (link)

Here it is!

So is this similar to the new Trek Madone which will have “recreational”, “race”, and “women-specific” geometries?

Interesting. So they haven’t turned the bike world on it’s head, but have gone the route of making their bikes more appealing to a wider spectrum of riders.

So is the price going to be the same as the R3?

I wonder if a higher headtube P3C is next…gasp!!!

I wonder if a higher headtube P3C is next…gasp!!!

I think they call that the P2C…

HAHA, yeah, you’re probably right.

But I can tell you I see a lot more P3Cs with 2 inches of spacers out on the roads than I see P2Cs. If something is “top-of-the-line” I think people are going to want it whether it fits them or not.

Well, there’s not much more than a description there right now…

That said, it follows in line with a lot of other bike manufacturers developing a less agressive bike bike for the normal human.

Bob

Geometry is not there. The listed geometry is the same as SLC.

Damn!

I was hoping for a P4C! But now they have a bike for my mother!

Not too mention all the images and a lot of the text are for the R3.

unless you roll on a 51 since they have the length of the headtube is the same

*That *is really cool! I especially like the white R3. Homerun.

The RS is very interesting and a good read on what consumers are looking for in the high end road market. It’s a “7” Series BMW. Look at the seat stays…

Subtle, classic touches to the down tube graphic also. That treatment on the RS emphasizes the squoval shape.

I also love the R3. The only thing that I would love even more is if they did a white Wolf SL fork to go with it (maybe they will, who knows).

Has the R3 remained the same in terms of geometry?

Curved seatstays on the RS as well.

Any word on pricing? Has the R3 stayed the same? What’s the RS going to cost.

Good point about the fork. Although the white frame with a black fork and saddle would look cool.

Damn, I am getting ready to pull the plus on an R3. Do I hope to get an 07 for a couple hundred off on a closeout price?

If the 08 is the same price as the 07 the white could be worth it, that’s a hot looking bike.

The only thing I’ve read about prices are that the R3 and the Soloist will get a price change (higher or lower, I dunno). R3-SL and SLC-SL stay the same.

Thanks for the info. Really it’s a win/win situation for me. I like the current paint job and am willing to drop $2,600 for the frameset.

I love the new paint job as well, if it comes out cheaper I’ll wait for it. If we hear it’s going to be more, I’ll buy one of the 07s ASAP.

That said, the P2C went down $400 in price from it’s first to second year, let’s hope the same is true for the R3

"have gone the route of making their bikes more appealing to a wider spectrum of riders. "

It’s a very smart move. Specialized realized this a few years ago. Not everybody is a twenty year old crit racer who wants big drop. This model will appeal very much to the fit baby boomer or gen-X roadie who doesn’t road race but likes to hammerfest group ride and do centuries.

In otherwards, it’s marketed directly at guys like me. There is a big potential market for this bike.

Any Pics of Changes to the Carbon Soloist?
