Cervelo/Wolf Forks

Can anyone help me out here. I just want to understand more about these forks. I have the Wolf TT fork on my 2006 P3C and a SL on my Soloist Carbon. I just got a P3C for my wife for a Christmas present and it has a Wolf CL fork on it. All I know is that TT = Time Trial, CL = Classic and SL = Super Light. No idea what that effectively means though.

So I no nothing about forks at all and I don’t even know if Wolf is a separate company or a brand name of Cervelo. I can’t find any website about it at all. I’m mainly interested to know why one P3C came with a TT fork and another with a CL and what the difference is between them all. If anyone can educate me…?

the TT is the old fork. It is heavier and has an alloy steerer.

The CL is the same shape as the TT but smaller. It is allegedly more aero and 150 grams less.

The SL is the same shape AND size as the CL but has a carbon steerer. It is another 150 grams less than the CL.

The cheaper bikes still come with the TT. The p3T comes with the TT so presumably it is stiffer.

All these forks are made by truetemper (like alphaq)

Thanks for clearing that all up for me.

SO… They are all the same geometry, and they should all be interchangeable them

Would it make sense to use the SL from my Soloist for my P3C when racing then. Particularly Nice as is 300g lighter for the climbs?

i would ask cervelo. I don’t know if they aren’t specing it on the p3c b/c of price or because they figure the alloy steerer is safer for a tri bike. but if I was getting a p3c i’d want a sl.

You also get different forks based on the build. If it is spec from the factory…ex Carbon Soloist with dura ace build = SL fork. Carbon Soloist with Ultegra build = CL fork.
You will find shops switch parts out from framesets, this provides a way to set the bike up at different price points. SL fork full carbon the CL is not.

The Wolf TT fork uses carbon fiber bladed legs, an cast aluminum alloy crown section and a thick-walled, aluminum alloy steer tube.

The Wolf CL fork uses carbon fiber bladed legs, a full molded carbon fiber crown, and a thin wall, cro-moly steer tube.

Uncut the weight difference between the forks is 4.2 ounces or 120 grams according to our scale. The Wolf CL is the lighter fork.

Here’s some more info:

“The Wolf TT has full carbon fiber, aerodynamic, bladed fork legs with a cast aluminum fork crown (the “shoulder” area of the fork at the top) and a thick-wall aluminum alloy steer tube. This design facilitates the use of almost every type of handlebar stem clamping system as opposed to carbon steer tubes that often have restrictions on the clamping method of the stem that can be used. The difference between the Wolf CL and the Wolf TT carbon fiber forks is weight. The Wolf TT is 4.2 ounces (120 grams) heavier than the Wolf CL and shares the same aerodynamic benefits according to Cervelo. The Wolf CL uses a carbon fiber fork crown and thin wall, cro-moly steer tube.”

The Wolf TT in NOT made by Alpha Q, as the SL and CL are. I spoke with them about this last week. They did not know who made the TT, as it is outsourced by Cervelo. All three are good forks, Just a bit different.

If we want to upgrade, where can we purchase the SL fork?

your LBS should be able to order it for you from Cervelo. it’s not cheap though. $400+ i think. if you want to lose weight there are cheaper ways to do so.
