I am thinking of putting together a new bike project next winter. I would like to build a bike for hilly/technical Tri’s/Du’s and for Road bike duties: Occasional Crits, Hill TT’s may be even a Road Race etc. I currently have 2 frames on my short list (though others come and go), A Cervelo Solo and a Carbon TCR .
I am familular with both brands as I currently own a P2k and an anodized Alu Giant TCR. The new bike would replace the TCR which I would then use for training. Has anyone ridden both of my shortlist bikes? and if so how do you rate them.
Currently I am viewing it as: The Giant will be Lighter - so probably climbs better against the heavier Soloist. I like the Alu TCR because it feels so light and manoverable, so I am a bit worried that the Soloist will feel a bit sluggish in comparision. The Soloist should be a bit more aero so should be quicker on the flats and its available in more sizes (though i feel comfortable on the TCR I have). Both seem to get good reports on comfort/handling/performance. All though the RRP is about the same there are lots of discounted TCR’s about in the UK where there is only one Cervelo Dealer (and with smaller production numbers), so the TCR would win on Price, but the Solo would be less common.
Currently favouring the Solo? Which would be your choice?
