i’m torn between the two. i hear that the slc-sl is lighter? why would cervelo make the successor model heavier? your thoughts?
thx!

I believe the seat stays on the S3 are closer to the R3(just flipped to make it more aero) hence increasing the comfort level over an SLC-SL. In addition, the S3 has different cable routing(if I’m not mistaken). You can check Cervelo’s website to be sure. I just wish they made better colors for the S3.
I spent significant time on the two. The rear end on the S3 has a significantly different ride characteristic. I’d definitely prefer the ride of the S3 over the SL.
As for the cable routing, you need to run a little extra more housing than you think you would in order to keep the bends wide. I think the routing is a PITA and shift quality really was not great with the 7900. Perhaps it is better with SRAM or 7800, but I have not tried that combo on the S3.
As for weight. F it. Worrying about a few grams of frame weight as opposed to handling characteristics, strength, or durability is silly.
ok thx for the great input, guys…i actually like the low-key graphics of the s3. the flamboyant white “olympic” edition was not for me.
i agree, ride is more important than a few grams.
Get the R3 SL, good colours, lighter than sh*%, and much cheaper than the SLC SL. I just got one after considering the SLC SL, but decided that the marginal aero advantages and cost were not worth the better ride and overall weight, and it weighs 770g!
