We can only assume that the shifting of the top ShimaNO groupset, on a great frame would suck. Is this a real question? I mean please…shift better than what? Are you really that worried that DA on a Cervelo would not shift properly - add to that, if you were to miss a shift - what are you going to lose?
It’s just a personal thing, but I don’t like this look on a road bike at all. I think it looks much cleaner and simpler, to have the cables run straight down to the area of the head-tube/down-tube junction and then onwards from there - either inside or outside the down-tube.
record10 is so outdated… you should become super record 11
I was ready too…but the cost of all the changes to wheels and cross compatibility is a wreck. Campy screwed the pootch with this one and all the things that dont work together. I suppose in another five or so years ShimaNO will also have 11.
I may get a new Parlee with Super Record on it just for shits and grins. Would not go to 11 on a Tri bike at this point (other than the fact that there are no 11 bar ends out).
7900 has what Shimano refers to as light action so the system is sensitive to sharp bends which increase friction in the cables. The shifting will work fine with most types of cables/housing but you’ll want to use metal ferrules instead of plastic ones and not have any sharp bends in the housing. Nokons are a closed system so they aren’t prone to contamination and can also make tight bends without increasing friction.
7900 works, but is sensitive to the right cable length. We noticed this on demo bikes, where we leave the cable a bit long so we can adjust the stems up and down. That affected the shifting. So make sure the cables are not too long and not too short, just right :-).
Gerard, any news on the “Roubaix S3” that Roger Hammond is supposed to be testing? Any plans to release to the public in due course? If so ballpark release date?
