Cervelo R3 by another name

Photo courtesy of cyclingnews.com. Very similar to the R3 - nice new Dura-Ace cranks, though…

well kind of sort of but it doesn’t look Squoval like my bike!!!

The grass needs to be cut.

I’[m becoming increasingly impressed by Specialized’s offerings.

I particularly like the paint scheme, artfully tying the fork into the frame, visually. Probably the most cohesive integration of the fork with the frame, I can remember seeing. Usually the fork looks like an add-on and breaks the look of the bike.

I thing with a curved top tube, sweeping into curve seat stays (like an old school Schwinn) it would look awesome. Or with say a curved top tube transitioning into an S seat stay would be good too, to balance the curve of the fork.

Very nice bike by the look of it.

Who makes that bike?? Kinda hard to tell.

agreed - I like it too.

They have a decal fetish
.

Yeah, I think if I ever buy a mass prod asian frame, it will be a Specialized.

I think the DA decals on the wheels are grabbing your attention.

I remember my old QR Special Edition. They left no stone unturned in their quest to maximize stickers! Half the price of the bike must have gone towards stickers. I think 17 Quintana Roo or QR stickers was the final count! Probably added 250grams to the bike! LOL

Are those new dura ace cranks carbon or just really secretive?

They’re prototypes…Probably see them at the Tour and then intro’d at Interbike. Shimano had no carbon offerings in cranks and that is the thing people want. Not saying it is better, but that is what people want.

New DA Cranks huh? I wondered when they were comming out with some carbon in the group. Again, I don’t know if it is better, but it is the trend and I have been seeing the prices for DA parts dropping everywhere.

I dunno, Shimano has to do what they have to do to make money. Totally fine and all, but I love my DA cranks and would not want them in carbon. That said, I also have a pair of FSA K-Force Lite’s and they are amazing as well.

Bob

Are they really carbon? Or are they these (assuming “these” are not carbon)…

Weeeellll, whether there is an aluminum spider in there is hard to tell, but I would guess they’re full carbon, probably constructed using a version of the FSA bladder method. Note the chain rings are not carbon, jsut the crank arms.

My only criticism of these protos is that the non-drive arm looks totally different than the drive side. Whereas the DS is swopping and curvy, the Non-DS is very blocky. These might have a ways to go before production, so we’ll see.

Take a look at the article. They are carbon, at least on the outside…

duh, didn’t bother to read the article
.

The crankarms on the Specialized are carbon,

The crankarms on the TTX are aluminum, and the chainrings on it are carbon.
