There is no need to email somebody on ebay. You can communicate with the seller through the auction itself. This has scam written all over it.
PS - if you do communicate with the person, be sure to hide your email address. I’d be skeptical.
There has been an unbelievably nice p3C on roadbikereview classifieds for $1200 for a couiple of years too. No response – ever.
Not in this case. Estate seller with good eBay marks. Paypal backs the transaction to $2,000. Somebody died and that was their bike.
"Somebody died and that was their bike. "
I dunno. From the auction text:
ALL SIZES IN STOCK! YOU CAN HAVE ONE FOR $1200
BEFORE YOU TAKE ANY ACTION PLEASE EMAIL ME AT: msi610@gmail.com
If you will not email me fast at: msi610@gmail.com yours offert will not be taken serious!
The guy that died must have had quite a collection of P3Cs ![]()
I too would be very skeptical of this.
Haim
A bicycle shop owner that died? You are covered by PayPal to $2,000 so the risk would not be high.
Any time an auction has text like this -
“ALL SIZES IN STOCK! YOU CAN HAVE ONE FOR $1200
BEFORE YOU TAKE ANY ACTION PLEASE EMAIL ME AT: msi610@gmail.com
If you will not email me fast at: msi610@gmail.com yours offert will not be taken serious!”
it is total and 100% bullsh*t. the “email first” thing is always a dead giveaway
a 10 year old can hack an estate ebay account. soooooo unless you feel like lighting money on fire and hoping that paypal gives it back (they are usually pretty good) -
Avoid this thing like the plague. If it sounds too good - it always is. ESPECIALLY on ebay.
I’ve got a funny feeling that the seller may demand another type of payment.
“BEFORE YOU TAKE ANY ACTION PLEASE EMAIL ME AT: msi610@gmail.com
If you will not email me fast at: msi610@gmail.com yours offert will not be taken serious!”
The risk is VERY HIGH…the reason the seller wants you to email him is so that you will make arrangements to pay him OUTSIDE the ebay auction…hence, the paypal coverage doesn’t apply
.
Very short auction time also. Has anyone one has sent the guy an email yet?
Why would you bother sending him an email… ohhh maybe its not fake la la la.
Whatever just look at the past items… hmmm jewlery, clothes… oh and high end 2007 race bike uh huh right…
The way this works is scammers hijack a legitimate user’s account (therefore all the good feedback) and try to get suckers (you) to contact them directly to purchase expensive items at fire sale prices. Sale will definitely not be through pay pal. Dead giveaway: all the other items are not bikes/sporting related. As Robert DeNiro’s character in Ronin says: When there is doubt, there is no doubt.
You guys are awesome. Thanks for the confirmation.
Definite scam.
Now the listing has been removed.
