Cervelo P3c 54 or 51cm?

I’m 5’9" - inseam 31", race all distances - prefer half & full IM distances.
Know the 54cm will work, debating on getting 51cm & riding in the 78 position. anyone with experiences to share?

I’m about 5’ 9.5" with a 30.5" inseam and ride a 51cm. I like the flexibility to tighten up the front end without having to use a small stem. I have a 90mm stem and the fit is couch comfortable. Here’s a pic…

You guys ride in the 75 or 78 position?

I’m 6’ with a 34" inseam and I ride a 54 steep.

I’d say I ride a fairly steep and low position… I ride the 78 position, on a Profile Tristryke that is 2/3rd of the rails forward. I’m 5’9 and ride a 51. Fits perfectly.

5’10" riding a 51cm P2SL (basically the same geometry as the 51 P3C. I ride with the seat pushed all the way forward with the post in the rear mounted position (nose of the saddle is about 1-2 cm in front of the BB, I haven’t actually measured it yet).

I’m 5’10 (32 inseam) and I have a 54cm P3C and I have to use an 80mm stem. I’m around 76-77 deg. I wish I would have gone with the 51cm. I wouldn’t worry about the inseam as much as your torso length. If you have a long torso then you should go with the 54cm but if you’re like me with a standard torso for my size then you might want the 51, However, if you ride very steep then the 54cm will work. Remember the 51 will have a lower stack height which is already very low on the P3C so if you might need a bunch of spacers unless you have a very aggressive drop.

i’m 5’10.5ish and even for me the 54cm seems big. I ride a 53cm P3sl and if I got a P3C I’d get the 51cm. Depends on your riding style though. If you ride shallowish, and we’re talking both where your saddle is and where you are on the saddle the smaller size is definitely the way to go, if you prefer to be stretched out a bit than bigger, if you like to be tight, smaller, etc. The 51cm is probably your best bet but it can depend on a lot of factors. At least with the 51cm however you’ll be more in the ball park. It’s easier to drop a longer stem on than a shorter one.

good luck:)

I’m 5’10 1/2" with about a 32 inseam. I ride a 54 P3C and was also on a 54 p3. I do feel the P3C feels a bit bigger, but am very happy with the fit.

I’m pretty much the same dimensions as you and had the 54cm. I rode very steep (78 position and rails all the way forward) with a 90mm stem and the bike did fit me.

That being said, if I had to do it again, I’d probably get the 51cm if only to give me a little more room to play on the bike. The 54cm was on the very cusp of being too big for me.

I have a rider 5’11" on a 51 P3C fairly stretched out (tip of extensions 79cm past the bottom bracket). Fit is fine.

PM me for pics.
