Which one do you prefer? The Cervelo P3 or Guru CR.901? Please assume the P3 can be dialed in for a perfect fit. Please do not take into consideration the “custom” geometry aspect of the Guru. I would like to know your opinion in terms of ride quality, aerodynamics, comfort, etc.
P3 has a better win record
.
I’m biased for a number of reasons towards the Guru, of which you’ll find if you click on my website below.
I’ve ridden a number of high end triathlon bicycles, but never a P3 (full disclosure). Of the ones I’ve ridden, the CR.901 is at the very top of the list in terms of ride quality. As stiff as they come, SMOOTH and it is very responsive. Fabrication is top notch, the paint is done just the way you like it and you won’t own the honda of triathlon bikes.
The P3 is probably superior to the CR.901 in terms of aerodynamics to roughly the same margin as it is superior to the P2.
I just got mine a few weeks ago, had it made in custom geometry with very relaxed steering geometry to make the harrowing descent at IMLP a little less scary next year.
^ I was under the impression that the HTA was fixed for a given HT length. They basically shoot for a trail of 5.9 if I recall correctly.
I agree on all your points, the 901 rides and handles phenomenally well. Eyeball aero test, it’s probably between the P2 and P3.
You may be right about the trail. I just went ahead and calculated my mechanical trail, because I didn’t know exactly what I had it at. Then I went to compare it to their fast forward geometry only to see that my ‘special’ easy handling geometry is their standard.
