This just went off on ebay.
It went for $1925. I had been watching; nice bike, but I think it was a little high. What say you guys?

I think its cool how it stays upright by itself! I wish mine could do that trick. ![]()
Compared to the original MSRP of $3499, I think that’s pretty fair. Most people I’ve seen selling now are asking $2200-$2500 for a bike with some decent use.(~~500-1000 miles). It’s still a popular bike, kind of stinks that they stopped making it.
This is completely off topic, but the flipped-forward seatpost thing looks cheap. Of course, the most “infamous” bike of its time and certainly speaks for itself with its success, but why couldn’t Cervelo make that darn seat-tube steeper and ditch the seathead thingie?
Gerard?
If I was in the market for a bike, I certainly would have paid that. I think the P3-SL is one of the best looking bikes around…if I could find somebody that had a 55cm and wanted to horse trade for computer parts I’d be so game.
I agree. The seat head clamp is a weird design, especially where it is locked into place by an alloy bolt that sort of “drives” into the mast of the seat head.
Those forward facing seatposts seem odd to me, but in a good-bad kind of way: like a scorpion.
This was the first auction I had watched of late. It was right at the limit of what I would pay for one with Ultegra. What about those wheels?
The new carbon Planet-X with Dura Ace for $2500. looks like a better deal.
I think when you use the term “deal” in the tri-world, it’s relative to perception of performance. An “Ulegra to DA” upgrade on a tri bike (esp the Cervelo spec) isn’t a deal breaker. We’re talking a $100 rear and a $50 front (ebay) gets you DA. Now…if it were a fully spec’d DA, different story.
Definately agree…Planet X sounds like a hell of a deal. Wasn’t really aware of it until JonnyO brought it up. Can they remove the decal? ;o)
Although…coming from me, it doesn’t mean much b/c I’ve been spending my extra cash on SRMs while keeping the trusted alum bike!
I’ll report back in a year whether it was worth spending the extra cash on performance measurement or bling. ;o)
What’s wrong with the decal? I always liked the movie.
Although I would like any bike, clothing, etc, sans logos, unless sponsors want to pay me big buck$ to wear them! (not likely to happen in THIS universe)
