Cervelo p3 build - cable routing

My mechanic friend helped my build my new (used frame) P3 and used normal cable ends over the housing when inserting the cables into the aero cable routing. I seem to recall from my older aluminum soloist that the frame cutouts for cable routing had little black plastic inserts that fit into the cutouts and then the cables went into those. I didn’t get any when my used frame was shipped to me.

Does anyone know if I should have used those little inserts and how do I get them if I should have used them?

not sure what year you have, but the later model Cervelo’s have built in cable stops, making those plastic POS stops obsolete—which is a good thing.

Not sure of my model year - maybe 2005. It’s black with red highlights and has some small CSC stickers on the seat stays. So, you think I should be looking for the plastic inserts? I don’t know if it will functionally make much of a difference since there are cable stops/ends on the housing now, but it just looks a little funky at present. Plus, if it rains, seems like water could enter fairly easily.

I guess im not really understanding. Photos?

My 2004 P3 has built in cable stops so no need for the plastic ones.

Thanks. It’s in the shop now anyway and I’ll ask them. There’s always something. I bought it used and apparently the derailleur hanger threads were cross-threaded so they are trying to fix that.

Just buy a new rear derailleur hanger.

I think he’s referring to the aluminum internal cable stop for the rear brake at the rear of the top tube: LINK

Both my Al P3 and Al Soloist use this one removable cable stop.
