With all the talk going on about the benefit of a slower rider needing the advantage of an aero frame more-so than an elite rider. It has got me thinking about if I should go with the Planet-X Stealth. I am a slow rider (16mph in IM). I currently ride a P2SL with H3C’s, I like the bike but it just lacks something. Not sure what, but I always seem to be looking at other bikes.
What I am getting at is Cervelo is known as being one of the most aero bike manufacturers out there. I don’t want to be slowed down anymore than I already am. My worries are the PX frame may not be as aero as the P2, plus the external cables on the PX. I really don’t know a lot about aerodynamics or any of that stuff, I am just tired of being slow!
What are you thoughts on switching or staying put.
You probably won’t be any faster because of the swap.
But if having the Planet-X means you’ll like your bike more and thus ride it more, than yeah, you’ll be faster.
Hell, if I had a BMC Time Machine I’d ride that thing all damn day just so people could see me on it The bike wouldn’t make me faster, but all that riding would
It’s not the bike that will make you fast. You could likely go out on either frame and not see a difference in your performance. If you are slow, focus yourself at getting stronger on the bike. This will yield results you can see.
It’s never cool to look like the majority (can be safer though). The majority uses Cervelo (on the “PX vs Cervelo”). So you should go with the PX. Plus… the PX look is much more cool. The carbon fiber is always a must to the eye.
Everyone is completely right. I do need to get stronger on the bike. Klep you are damn right by saying the look is far better on the PX. I do wish they would have done internal cables, although I know it doesn’t make a huge difference. Hell Normann crushes the bike and rides externals.
So the basic concensus thus far is I need to work harder, and the PX looks a lot better. This may have wrapped up my decision to get the PX.
The PX is one of the best values on the market. It’s not just the bike, it’s also their aerobars. Just a great deal. Will be posting pictures of my Stealth as soon as the build is finished.
P2SL with H3’s is one of the fastest bke setups I can think of, providing you have a good position. Going for the Planet-X in search for better aerodynamics would be an interesting decision, to say the least.
If you want to be faster, train harder. If you have money to spend, hire a good coach.
good…i brain wash everyone!!! I guess i have done my job well of informing everyone about the sweat deal on this planet X.
the difference between a p2k and a planet X stealth is the material, now, it s depends if you prefer the feeling of carbon or alumiun… i by far prefer carbon…YES, ITS WAY MORE COMFY in my opinion at least and it dosnt matter what wheels or tire you use…alu and carbon will never feel the same…
go for what you like the most!
here s a pic of gordo on his new machine… dont listen to paulo. about bike stuff…he is a engineer and know nothing about it…i think he only learn how to build bridge or something like this…bridge arent light, aero and fast…
My PX kicks ass, but at the end of the day as everyone has said it’s not gonna be any faster than your current setup. Getting a new bike is not gonna make you faster as of such but you may want to ride it more, which of course means more time on the bike=faster(hopefully).
The only answer is to train more. Your position and aerodynamics are key for speed at the same power.
However if its worth anything I have just bought a PX and I am really
impressed by it, great quality and fantastic value. I truely believe you cant go wrong.
