Cervelo P2C seatpost

Hi there! For all of you P2C cervelo owners, I was wondering if anyone has had trouble with their seatpost slipping. I was out for a ride today and mine slipped causing a hole in my frame. Being a girl I cried hysterically until I realized that this is a problem that can be fixed. Looking forward to hearing your comments.

Thanks!

#1 - Call or email Cervelo customer service.

#2 - Buy an inch/pound torque wrench and learn how to use it. Tighten the bolts to the correct torque.

I don’t know how yours slipped, most of the time that I adjust mine I have to back out both of the bolts so much that the binder is jiggly loose. Seems almost like it is self binding. That combined with the dried drink mix/sweat combination that usually ends up in that area make it pretty hard to slip. You may want to try the carbon paste that a few people make. Maybe Tacx, FSA?

I have a Giant road bike with a carbon post that is impossible to keep from slipping. Hairspray works until I ride in the rain. I finally just replaced the carbon post with a Thomson aluminum post and have not had any more problems.

A hole? HUH?

Mine is anything but slippy in there – it’s very very tough to move it at all!!

This has been a constant problem for me since I bought the bike. My LBS has been great about replacing it,but I am frustrated none the less! Not sure about the carbon lube stuff but that was mentioned to me as well! @ this point I am open for any suggestions.

My seatpost has been fine, but my seat kept tilting/slipping without warning. I called Cervelo and they said to take it to any Cervelo dealer and they could replace it free of charge from a bike in stock. The shop would simply send the post back to Cervelo as a warranty deal. If the slipping post caused damaged to your frame, I would call Cervelo and ask a course of action first before going to a shop. But, if you have a good relationship with your shop, they might be better too.

I just wrote to Cervelo (my wife is Amyaero). We’ll wait for the reply. It pays to have a bike purchased from a shop and registered for potential warranty issues. Let’s hope this is one of them. Thanks for all the advice.

I’d give them a call when they open. Emails could take a day or so, or more to answer. They’re good folks and will shoot straight with you.

Cool Thanks!

I was refering to the seat post doing the forward tilt backward tilt, the actual seat post to the frame has not been a problem!
