Are bike model years like automobiles; that is will 2005 models start coming out in mid to late 2004? I am specifically interested in Cervelo’s model year. A new P2K is on my radar.

We don’t really have model years. As Ferdinand Porsche once said, change is easy, imporvement is very difficult. So we change when we find an improvement, not when the year is over. For example, a few weeks ago we started shipping the completely revamped R2.5. but May is not when we change colors on bikes, so these are painted in 2004 colors, sort of a 2004b model. And at some other point in time, we may change the colors without changing the frame technically. So there are no defined model years and to us it makes sense that way. We introduce new technology when it is ready, and we introduce new colors or color schemes when people get tired of the old colors.

Well, I am not sure what the proper protocol is. Usually when I meet people I choose between my mother tongue or the language spoken by my host. Mother tongue is not that useful here since it is dutch, so I’d go with the host’s first language. Whether the host is the server this forum is stored on or slowman, either way it’s american.
The idea of residence is interesting, but I think I have a pretty solid defence against that. I reside in Canada, but my temporary residency is expired at the moment. There is a grace period while the bureaucrats process my application (which probably like every year will be turned down due to the fact that I am “no significant benefit to Canada” and then I have to appeal and appeal again to finally get it) but I am not sure if right now I am enough of a resident to be forced to use Canadian spelling. And by your analogy, the German residents on this site should write German then, shouldn’t they :-).
But the truth is that I was never really taught the difference between the two spellings in highschool back in the Netherlands so I use a bit of both without really knowing what the hell I’m doing.

excellent point. i conceed. and it does not surprise me to hear of your burecratic woes in renewing your temporary residence permit. any thoughts of applying for landed immigrant status?

Anyway, I didn’t want to do the permanent residency at first, but the bureaucrats told me I should. That was pretty funny, my MP (who was pushing the case because we employ 20 people in his riding so he sees a significant benefit to Canada) told them I didn’t want to be permanent, and they kept saying that they realised that but that it would be easier if I did. So in the end my MP asks them if they are really suggesting I lie to the Ministry about my intentions? That was a pretty funny conversation going back and forth. I’ll probably go for permanent residency once this latest renewal comes through, but the rules are so messed up I am not looking forward to it. I wonder if they will deduct points from my language skills for my Us/Canadian spelling mix-ups, better start paying attention
