Cervelo Dual SL in the future?

Can we expect a Cervelo Dual SL next year? I’m thinking about getting a Dual, but don’t like the current color options. I love the anodized SL versions for both the P2 and P3, so a Dual anodized SL version would be exactly what I’m looking for.

Tough to say. The “SL” moniker seems to have trickled down from the P3 to the P2K. It is a reasonable assumptiopn Cervelo may continue that.

Of course, they are getting a lot of black bikes intheir line and that may not be to everyone’s liking.

Tough call. Anybody’s guess. Only Gerard knows for sure…

No
.

Darn! Oh well, I guess I’ll have to settle for the P2 SL  I also love the P2, but the Dual is just such a great deal. Good marketing strategy for sure. How about a carbon version of the P2?

And why not a carbon Dual and a carbon SuperProdigy while we’re at it? As you may have noticed, we’re rather busy with the P3 Carbon and the Soloist Carbon and the new Bayonne. That will keep us busy for a while and besides, the P2K and P2 SL do just fine. There would have to be a good technical reason to make it in carbon, for example some shapes we cannot do in Aluminum (like with the P3 Carbon) or a weight target we cannot hit in Aluminum (such as on the Soloist Carbon). BTW, that’s about all I am willing to say about new projects.

A smart says more with what he doesn’t say than with what he does. Very sly. Besides people…having an SL or carbon version of every bike is like having the racing version of the Cavalier or Sunfire. They are where they are on the price scale for a reason…so people can afford them. Using trickle down technology can be a good thing but a manufacturer has to draw the line somewhere. I’m not Gerard (I’m better looking and more hair…lol) but trickling down SL tech to the P2 is about as far as I’d want to go too. As for a carbon SuperProdigy…well that doesn’t even make sense. Your arsenal needs to have a quiver with many different arrows.

I agree that the line needs to be drawn somewhere. I think what Gerard said makes sense. As a consumer, I’m just trying to make sure that when I buy something today it will not be “trickled down” technology tomorrow at a significant discount. Otherwise, why not wait till tomorrow. I think I would feel some buyer’s remorse if I bought the P2SL this year and next year the Dual SL comes out at over $500 off (just throwing out a number here).

good point…well taken…Gerard is a smart man…if something comes out it will likely be better and worth the wait…on the other hand he did says something about not having a carbon P3 planned…and…well…we all saw how that turned out. He better stick to his words on this one or we’ll have to track him down and burn him like a witch.

Well I for one hope they truly do not make a Carbon Dual. Or even a Dual SL. The dual fits it’s niche…and well.

I agree with having various weapons at hand…and I for one hope they take the INTEL approach to engineering and continue to push the envelope way beyond what the current market demands.

I think if anything…it’s time for another weapon…! Give me guns…lots of guns!

Cervelo has proven that they can master the design game…and by having the fastest bikes in Alum, Carbon and Steel I think they are mastering the materials game…but it seems there is one material missing…but it’s probably not to their benefit to dabble in that market…lest they dominate it!
