Anyone own a cervelo bike and a yakima rack? I want to know if the downtube will fit into those lock-jaw type bike carriers…
Any yakima/cervelo specific bike information would be great.

I have a P2 and use a yakima roof rack, but with a fork mount.
It may be fine, but personally I would be very hesitant to put a flat aero tube in the jaws of a clamp-type roof rack. One crunch and your frame is toast. It just ain’t worth it with a 2.5 to 4 grand bike.
There’s definitely some truth in that. That’s why I’m posing the question, I wanted to know if anybody had tried it…
when I was looking at a Yakima rack I knew the guy selling it to me and he knew what type of bike I had (a cannondale IM5000 w/aero downtube) he specifically told me NOT to go with the down tube clamp and get a fork mount. Fork mount works great although I usually just toss the bike in the car (Honda Element).
I have a Cervelo P3 and a Yakima Mighty Joe. The rack works fine, never had any problems. Though when I can, I toss the bike in the car instead of using the rack.
