Cervelo Dealer Mark up

Does anyone know what kind of mark up is on a 07 Cervelo R3…MSRP is 2600.00 but curious to know what the dealer cost is?

Absolutely. Post a copy of your W-2 from last year on the forum and I’ll put that information right up here.

I’m being a smart ass of course, put you get the point. That information is proprietary to the industry folks as it should be. A dealer has a right to make a fair profit provided they provide a fair service. That said, a customer deserves a fair price- the very fairest they can negotiate **between them and the dealer. **

These types of matters generally work out best between consumer and dealer. Sometimes a dealer can negotiate, sometimes they can’t/aren’t willing too/don;t need too. On high demand bikes dealers will get a premium. On lower demand bikes they will have to make some concessions. If you are honest and up front about your expectations with your dealer I bet they will respect that and negotiate an equitable arrangement with you.

Bike mark ups in general are not that impressive and the dealers surely don’t get rich after paying rent/mortgage, power and water, employees, advertising, employee theft and regular store theft.

Offer to buy a water bottle and a cage with it, that way they will at least double their profit off the sale
.

I Googled “mark-up on bikes” and there was a lot of info. This is just one hit.

I think the dealer would pay about $1,690 and make about 35% GM.

Considering most retailers make 50% GM on clothing and other stuff I don’t think bike stores are making huge profits. It’s a tough business and it’s really hard to make a lot of money.
