That’s impressive, getting all the new toys before they hit the shelves. I’m really looking for the brand new folding wheel, if you have one of them let me know.
Noggin’s ok, Jason, but the neck is really sore. Just the road rash and soreness all over. I had forgotten my gloves but luckily I never even had a chance to put my hands down, everything happened so fast.
Managed to get my bars stuck in a chainlink fence at ~26. Two other guys went over me after that. Three others escaped the carnage. Not even sure what happened: there was our group heading one direction at a fast pace in 2 lines of 3, another group heading towards us in the distance but not yet an immediate threat, a narrow path, a little sand in the road and a chainlink fence. Luckily, there was no permanent people damage. Frankly I don’t even remember it very well, probably because I hit my head HARD.
I’m just glad everyone else is ok since they only went down b/c I did.
Glad you’re basically OK. I’ve crash-damaged a few helmets, but never knocked one into more than two pieces, so props on a great landing.
Humor is important. Laughing about it is much better than whining. It takes a real man to go down hard, get up and find a way to laugh. Are you on the 21 day DL, or back in the game, limping?
Heal well and we’ll see you on the road. Hang onto those shorts for hot days.

Woke up the next morning feeling like I’d been hit by a train, so I figured I’d go on the DL for a bit. Then I thought about all those guys in the Tour crashing and then having to ride hard stages the following day. I also thought about how behind the 8-ball I am w/ regards to my IMW prep.
I then sucked it up, bandaged myself, and went for a 6 hour ride up in the mountains. Every bump in the road was painful and I couldn’t really turn around to look for cars or “sit up” on the bars but I’m glad I went.

Yeah, those guys are sane!!

You’re awesome. Raising the pain threshold is a good thing!
I’m fortunate that I work in a health club, because I was able to get on a spin bike the day after crashing and breaking my collarbone last year. I think the boss was pleased, because I was leading a ride for the club, so it was workers comp and they’da had to have paid me either way. I didn’t get back on a real bike for nearly three weeks. Unlike Tyler, mine was actually in two pieces.
I recently fractured my thumb and basically can’t pull the brake caliper on my front break, nor put weight on my left wrist. So I can ride in the aeros, but can’t stop!! I rode about five miles on Sunday and was sooo glad I scratched the Half Vineman.
These experiences make it easier to be happy just getting out there.
