Century Camp Day 5

I didn’t think I was going to get in a workout on the last day of Dan’s Century Camp, but I managed a 23 mile ride early in the afternoon, and a 3 mile run later in the day. I finished the five days with 275 points. Counting Tuesday (which wasn’t an “official” Century Camp day), I put in 303 points. The 3 mile run was just a junk run to pad my point total. I wound up running at a decent pace, especially with sore, tired legs, so it was less “junky” than it started out being. I’m pleased with the week. Not a huge total, but more than I usually do (I generally average 250-265 points for a typical training week).

well, i’d like to think i rounded out century camp appropriately. I got in just over 100 miles on the bike (which i like to refer to as ‘century easter’). so here it is:

day five total = 101 points

bike: Road Race, 60 miles (+3400 ft of elevation gain) = 60 pts

easy ride, 41 miles = 41 pts

century camp total = 429 pts

Well the weekend did not go as planned for me:

The plan was:
Sat: 4 hours of riding with 62 miles of racing in the mix.
Sun: 3 hours of riding with 50 miles of racing and then a 30 min brick.

The reality:
Sat: Warm up then 15 miles of riding before the two sketchy guys in the race find each other in the 30mph corner and take themselves out then slide a cross the field taking out the 4 guys infront of me, and then I ran into them. Damage was whiplash on my teck, tigh back, pulled knee, and road rash - bike landed in the grass so just some messed up bar tape but the carbon levers and the bike didn’t end up with any real scraches. Chased for a bit, then the leg started acting up cooled down and then skipped the next race.
Sun: Couldn’t turn my head and knee was angry and it was raining. So nothing.

Taking yesterday off I think was smart as I feel about 95% today, so I’m going to run at lunch. This week was suppose to be my big week and it seams like it still should be. I still got in a decent week last week even with not riding much on the weekend and taking Friday easy. I’m ready to kick ass this week.

The only bad human injury was the guy who caused the crash, he ended up having someone who tried to bunny hop the mess landing on him. Lots of badly mangled bikes. One bike lost its rear wheel and derailer during the crash - I originally though that was what caused it. I’ve seen idiots pull out their rear wheel when they haven’t been tightened enough.

Well this is how it went:

7th: Ride 55M, run 3.5M to swimming and did 2200m = 91

8th: Ride 30M, swim 5000m = 80

9th : Ride 52M = 52

10th: Ride 70M = 70

11th: Swim 4000m, Run 21M = 124

Total points: 417

I hope that this fairs well, cant wait till the next one.
