CDs vs. iTunes

I bought the new Maroon 5 album on iTunes today (great btw)…
And then I was wondering…is anyone still buying CDs? Or you’re just buying directly online?

I think a better question is: is anyone else actually buying Maroon 5???

Apparently, yes… :stuck_out_tongue:
And my first concert ever was Kool and the Gang…

Do you do your Justin Timberlake dance moves naked in front of the mirror?

on a good system, cds still sound better. that said, i also buy most of my music from itunes. just downloaded metellica ‘ride the lightning’ … had it on cassette tape in junior high.

At least I can see myself in the mirror… :stuck_out_tongue:

Vinyl still sounds better
.

iTunes if it’s just one song that I want.

if it’s a band I really like then I’ll get the whole CD. My dad loves music and has soooo many CDs, it’s not even funny… he copies a lot of them for me.

And my first concert ever was Kool and the Gang…

Did everbody go crazy when they did Celebration? It must have felt like a giant wedding reception.

I like Itunes , if it was a special CD I would buy it as a back up. The only thing with SOME itunes music is

  1. its not available

  2. Some cuts are only with complete album purchase ( what a bunch of S***).
They know the album is 95% junk so they force it on you.

I know it is illegal in the U.S., but I have heard of some people using gomusic.ru. Not me of course…a friend of mine. Yeah.

Speaking of backups, I would hope that everyone with iTunes has a back up plan. MY 20 GB iTunes library is on two hard drives at any given time as well as being burned on DVD’s. It’s not a question of if your computer crashes with all of your music on it, but when.

So, i hear that the us government was testing their prototype ‘gay bomb’ (see other thread) just outside of el paso in an uninhabited area that is rarely frequentedly by anyone other than a few local cyclists. :stuck_out_tongue:

The bomb is supposed to make people more interested in sex than in fighting…I’m get I’ve been vaccined, being French and all…

Same here–two laptops, the older one now a music only, plus everything onto CDs.

And to Francois’ question–I haven’t bought a CD in a long while. I actually buy a lot more music now via iTunes, generally one song at a time.

I’m a luddite. I buy CD’s, then burn them to my PC (when I have time). But then, I also like going into the record store and looking around.

Spin the black circle!

Ummmm…I bought Johnny Cash, The Rolling Stones, and The Killers a year and a half ago because I got a Best Buy gift certificate for Christmas Other than that, I can’t remember any other CDs I’ve bought in the last 3 years.

CDs are on the way out. DVDs will be next. Some of the big music chains of gone under around here (Tower Records and Rainbow Records, to name 2). I’m predicting to see Block Buster and Hollywood Video gone in th enext 3 to 5 years.

In addition, I’m envisioning a society that is blackberry driven (Or IPhone, or whatever). You’ll start seeing docking stations everywhere…bookstores, airplanes, your car…they’ll be all over the place like phone booths used to be. You’ll simply pull your phone out of your pocket and plug in anywhere you go. Want to watch a movie?

…all this coming from a guy who didn’t understand what the hell email would ever be good for when I heard about it back in 1993.

wow, there are people who still buy ‘whole’ albums even online? and there are people who still buy the insanely-priced music on itunes? that is surpriseing. fyi, when you pay a dollar per song for compressed, DRM-screwed up music, be aware that the music distrutor is laughing his way to the bank while the artist gets a pittance, and that’s if he is lucky.

For the record, I do enjoy the whole album, and until I can do the same music by myself, I think that $10 for it, isn’t so bad…Considering I can listen to the songs as much as I want…

but wait…isn’t this the website where people shell out $2000 for a pair of wheels with dimples and $175 for running shoes that run for you? :stuck_out_tongue:
