CDA - What a difference 288 hours can make

To those of you who nostalgically remember the cold water and 20 mph winds at IMCDA last week…

I thought you’d like to know that, today, the lake is warm and glassy. The air is completely still.

But…

It’s 100 freakin’ degrees here now!

(I’ll take a little cold water and wind over this heat any time.)

I am so surprised that so many people remarked on how cold the swim was at IMCDA. Choppy and rough, yes, but it did not seem all that cold to me, and I wore a sleeveless wetsuit. Maybe I would have noticed the cold more if the conditions weren’t so crappy.

I didn’t really notice it during the swim either. But, I was shivering in my wetsuit before the start and also in T1. I think it was that cold wind off the lake. It actually felt warmer in the water than out…

Oh yeah, I was shivering beforehand as well, the air temp was under 50. I heard something about there being a hot tub in T1 from many sources, but I never saw it. The water temp seemed about equivalent to what Wildflower usually is.
