was thinking of a new wetsuit purchase as wondering if anyone knew the CDA water temp, and if many people were wearing short sleeves? thanks.
If I remember right, it was in the mid to high 60’s. Quite a few people swam in sleeveless wetsuits.

CDA water temp in 2003 was 63 degrees the day before the race. Not sure what it was race morning, but obviously not much warmer. I did the swim in a sleevless and there were several others out there as well. The water was cold though, especially for me - being from the warm mid-atlantic coast. I left water temps in the 80s and arrived to the “refreshing” waters of CDA. Another recommendation I would make is spend some time in the water each day leading up to the race. On the Saturday before the race, I went so far as to go swimming without a wetsuit for about 10 minutes. It really does help get you adjusted.
Having said all that - be prepared for anything. Our host told us that just a few weeks before the race they had LOTS of snow. The days before the race were pleasant temperature wise, as were the days after the race. Race Day high in the mid to high 90s - very bizarre.
Great race - fantastic community.
