Curious about what is in walking distance of the Coeure d’Alene Resort. Specifically, I am looking for a laundry facility (no washer/dryer at the resort, although they will do laundry for a fee), as well as vegetarian-friendly restaurants that will not break the bank. I ask about walking distance, as we (my fiancee’ & I) will likely not get a rental car, opting, instead for the resort’s shuttle. Whatever advice anyone out there has for getting around CdA on a shoestring, I am open to hear it. In advance, thanks.
I don’t know specifically, but I’m sure there are. Downtown is easy walking distance from the resort, and they have most everything there. You didn’t ask, but the Bella Rose has a great iced coffee, and the Bakery by the Lake was a great place for coffe and breads.
Everything you could need is within walking distance of the resort. Google map it and do a search for the services you are looking for.

Too bad you’re not into eating meat because there is the best place on earth on Sherman Ave across from the resort called Hudson’s Hamburgers. I am yet to find a better hamburger anywhere!
I’m a veggie and found it kind of hard to get a good, inexpensive meal. There is a big Italian place, Tito Macaroni, that has good pasta and pizza, at least for a chain, that I had success at. We rented a house and cooked most of our meals.
The resort is within walking distance to everything, as has been mentioned. You might have better luck than I as we didn’t try everything. We had very picky eaters in our group.
I can’t help with laundry facilities.
You are staying in the Resort and want to get by on a shoestring? I paid $150 with no tax for a nice apartment room over a house. I had a full kitchen, one block from lake about .5 miles from race site. I flew in to Pasco, Washington for $400 than flying into Spokane and rented a car through priceline.
As the other stated, the whole downtown is within walking distances. Small, but very cute downtown area. Might want to meet your hotel neighbors and ask them if you can ride in their car when they drive the bike course. If you haven’t seen the area, just might want to check out the hill around the lake.
Good Luck. It is a great race!!!
