CDA 2006 Lodging

…just signed up and was looking for advice on where to stay - preferable condo style or similar with a kitchen - should be 3 of us…thanks in advance
.

Call Cindy Sweeny in CDA at 208-292-3055 or 208-660-8207. She found me a great house to rent last year. Z

I agree. I have rented a house the past 3 years and will again for '06. Initially it was hard to find houses or condos in town, but the locals have caught on and availability is much better.

See you there,

Gary Mc

how far in advance did you make arrangements?

I’ve allready booked my house for next year! Some places will want a deposit - make sure you can get a refund of this deposit if your plans change. Z

do you think i have to make arrangements soon … i wasnt planning on doing anything until dec/jan … there was a huge list on the cda website of places to stay so i figured it would be easy to find something later on.

I think you will be OK if you wait until Dec. - Rooms will start filling up after the holidays. Z

thanks! I just checked the participants list 2166 entries already … i thought this race closed out at 2000.

You can get sweet houses on the race course for much cheaper than a hotel. I had a hotel for 6 days and it was crazy high price for crappy lodging. Go with the house and split the cost with friends.

Almost all of the good and close locations are booked by now. I spent the past severl weeks hunting them down and just one week ago landed the last 5 bedroom house in the area that’s currently available. I would not wait another day if you want a nice place or if you need a big place in particular. If you want lakefront, good luck!

Be prepared for jacked up rates. Most homes are going for $2800-$3500 for the week.

PM me if you want more info.

wow i just called a few hotels … the prices are crazy and there is hardly anything left!

yeah the host resort quoted me at:

Premier rooms are $439.00 per night
Deluxe rooms are $359.00 per night
These rates include a $75 per day credit that may be used towards food & beverage, spa services or golf.

I mean it is a nice resort but come on.

has anyone stayed in the best western cda inn?

What is the minimum stay requirement?

No way I want to spend that night but if I am getting $75 for food and drink I might consider it.

I didn’t ask and they didn’t say. Sorry.

5 nights
.

Thanks. That is a chunk of change but may be worth it if it includes message and such.

yeah but before you get excited realize that a massage there is probably 10x the amount of a normal one … i wonder how far that $75 will go

I am sure it is way expensive. I had to bail on the race in 2004 but had a house near the TA for $600 for the week but it has been sold.

I stayed at the Best Western in '04, but will be in a condo at a resort called Arrow Point in '06. I think a hotel is a tough place to stay for an Ironman week - with all the crap I brought up, it was tough to move around the room. With the condo there is plenty of room to spread out, not to mention a kitchen.
