Caught In Hampster Wheel: Urinary Infection

Don’t post often - mainly a lurker, but at present finding myself a bit desperate given the extent to which my training/life has been derailed as of late.

I’ve been trying to beat an urinary track infection for the past 3 weeks, but each antibiotic makes me sicker from the side effects than I was from the initial infection! So far I’ve been prescribed Cipro, Bactrim and Levaquin - the ladder of which nearly put me in the hospital due to my reaction after a single dose! It seems I can’t tolerate the medication the urologist feels is required to insure the infection is sufficiently dealt with. He is concerned it may be laying dormant in my prostate only to re-occur unless sufficiently eradicated, hence the heavy dose of meds.

Anyone else ever dealt with this sort of thing? I am typically a very health 48 year old man and not accustomed to what seems like a medical hamster wheel.

Any Ideas???
