Perhaps the fact that he had a sexual relationship with a real live adult makes him less weird than his peer group… but then murdering his own son to avoid detection is pretty bad even by their standards. Perhaps that’s why the church didn’t offer him the refuge from justice that it affords it’s paedophile brethren.
It’s a sad fact that this kind of story has lost any potential to surprise. A perverse cult, perverse practices, predictable results.

Well, It surprised me. Of course hearing about people murdering others particularly their own kids always surprises me and always will. But I have also come to the realization that some times peoples brain don’t function normally and they do really really stupid things.
I have not clue what perverse cult or perverse practice you are referring to so I really can only comment on you thought that this story is not surprising. Which as I stated, to me, it is surprising and sad, whenever a mother or father kills their child.
In Reply ToHow is the church implicated in this sad human story?
Are you kidding? Did you read the article? Do you know what a priest is/does?
In Reply To What groups are you members of?
My state and national triathlon federations. Feel free to criticise them.
In Reply To You’re hard to please, my bony friend. The Church doesn’t afford this guy protection, and it still comes in for criticism from you for it.
Not really, and you’re very easily confused. Perhaps you mean my insistence on the primacy of the rights of children. I am a stickler for that. Since you see children as sexual playthings you are never going to understand it.
I did not criticise the church for not protecting this creep. I simply notice the bizarre standards that the church applies. On multiple occasions the church implausibly sought to justify its conspiracy to assist paedophile priests to escape justice, (and permit them to continue their crimes) by saying that they were exercising ‘compassion’ and ‘forgiveness’.
On precedent, had this perp been a child molester he might have found assistance and protection from within the church. However, it was his consensual relationship with an adult woman that left him in such fear of discovery (by the church; he had nothing to fear at law) that he was willing to do anything to avoid detection. Did he finally cross a line with the church in murdering his own child, or had he already done so by having sex with a woman?
Somehow you, pedo-boy, and some extremist Catholic co-conspirators, see child molestation as part of the rich history of the church, to be defended at any cost. It’s sex between consenting adults that you are at pains to restrict.
The Catholic attitude to infanticide is at best ambivalent. To them, it simply depends on circumstances. There are numerous examples in the Bible where the killing of children is pleasing to their god. Doing so to hide a clandestine affair is not one of them. That’s good, as far as it goes, but the contortions that the church undertakes to rationalise its various (im)moral positions on these issues is one of the reasons that I am unsurprised that priests and other church officials so often get it so heinously wrong.
Do you suppose that a triathlete has ever committed murder or adultry? How can you deal being associated with such people? You must be real scum to join a federation so sick that it has murderers and adulterers in its membership.
I bet there are murderers and adulterers right in the county in which you live. I just don’t understand how you live with yourself given the scum with which you associate.
You are an idiot. You see a story completely unrelated to pedophilia, and you turn it into an opportunity to rant about pedophile priests, and to actually accuse another ST poster of being a pedophile? You need professional help.

And to maintain consistency, Art, from this day forward might I assume that you will never be critical of an organization or group of people who’s members commit wrong doings.
No need to respond. We all know you are a straight up guy.
Ha Ha. I started to post to this thread a few minutes after it opened (I couldn’t sleep, was bored, etc).
I saw it for what it was, and erased most post before I hit the reply button. It was a chance to get into “discussion Hell” where the only way out is to admit catholics are all pedophiles in some shape or form or to conced that religion is the bane of society, accepting that without it, people would be more giving and would not fight over land, wealth, power, and control.
For once I avoided the temptation, and yes … I am letting everyone know of my brilliance. If I don’t tell anyone how great I am, no one will notice. wink
**“You don’t need proof when the Good Lord fills your heart with faith” **
While we can never have proof one way or another, I think the quote is rather accurate for the purpose it serves. Just sayin’. Isn’t some of the proof to “non-believers” that their hearts AREN’T filled with faith"? I mean, surely if there was a God you’d “feel something”, right?
It seems to me that essentially the same type of derogitory comment made to one group could also be made to the other group. Both groups act on not having proof.
Seriously, both groups are seemingly battling each other with double-edged swords. Almost anything dispariging said to one group from the other can easily be reversed to the other group. While fun at times, it’s unproductive.
No one knows past “belief”, although many claim to (on both sides).
