Cateye Double Wireless Trouble

FYI,

I bought a new Cateye double wireless – wireless speed and cadence from the same chainstay mounted sensor. Works great, but interferes with my Polar S150. I was at an SBR seminar in NYC a few weeks ago and talked to someone from Cateye and they said there is no solution.

Also, I did try switching the watch to the opposite wrist, which reduces the problem, but does not limit it enough to make the HRM useful.

Anyone know if the Vetta double wireless has the same problem?

Want to sell your Cateye? I have one and want another for my road bike.

Around 50% of polar-cateye cordless users have this problem from my rough estimate. You can try resetting the code on the cateye (I think there are 22 different codings). You maybe more prone with the S150 as it is not a coded transmitter belt…

Hi–to be fair, shouldn’t this be more like 50% of ar non-coded transmitter/anything users? In other words, does Cateye in particular have any cuplability here, or is the problem exclusively due to use of the non-coded transmitter?

We have noticed it initially on the coded transmitters. Some users can get both to work if they reset the cateye, but some have had no joy at all. I guess they are both using a very similar frequency range… I am only guessing that it would be a less ‘solveable’ problem with an uncoded transmitter…

I just recently installed the Cateye on my tri bike and had some trouble as well with interference with my S210. Try starting your HR monitor while you are far away from your bike (and while the Cateye is in “sleep” mode). Then approach your bike and start your computer. It worked for me. I get interference if I am only wearing the watch portion of my Polar, but not when I wear the strap.
