I just thought I’d share this with everyone. I had a 2 month old Cateye Microwireless computer that just stopped sensing. I did all the usual troubleshooting (new batteries, adjust fork mount and wheel magnet, etc.) and couldn’t get it working again. Called Cateye customer service and 48 hours later a new head unit arrives and all is well. I was close to just buying a cheap wired unit as I’ve not had much luck with wireless computers but Cateye rose to the occasion and with my word on purchase date they fully warrantied the computer. Thanks CATEYE!
Had issues with their double wireless computer a while back. Computer was without flaw, but the bracket holding it had a secret engineering feature of ejecting the computer every time I went over streetcar tracks.
I called them, and they asked me to send it in, and they sent me a whole new one with a reengineered bracket. Better yet, they asked me to write a letter, describing the flaw, so they could pass it on to their engineers. Impressive.
well, it’s good to know that they have good customer service. I’ve never had to deal with them, though.
I’ve had one on my road bike since 97 and it still works. As far as I can remember, I’ve never even changed the battery. (I could be wrong on that, but I sure don’t remember changing it). It stopped sensing for a bit this summer, but all I had to do was clean off the contacts and ‘erase’ them (i.e. rub them with a pencil eraser) and now it works great again.
i shoud note that the thing did get a few years off when i was living in europe…
Remember the old Solar powered Cateye, it was about the size of a deck of cards. Those were the good old days.
I worked with Cateye and their rep for years, going all the way back to when they first entered the US market. These folks get it- superior product, pricing, and customer/dealer support.
One of my favorite manufacturers. Nice to hear they are still doing it right. My old Cateye Micro still does service on two of my bikes and is going strong after more than 12 years.
Rock on Cateye!
I had a similar experience. I was barely able to tell him the problem when he asked for my address and said a replacement would be sent that day.
