Not that I really care, but… Carrie Fischer is a well-established Hollywood script fixer. That is, she’s asked by producers to fix scripts that are somehow flawed or not working. It’s basically what she’s been doing in the industry for the last 20 years and she must be good at it since there aren’t a lot of those jobs going around. Her saying she doesn’t get it is probably decent criticism. Then again, it’s Hollywood, and most of it is crap from start to finish.
I saw her speak at a dinner a few years ago in San Francisco. She was the warm up act for George Lucas who was being honored for something or other and talked at length about making Star Wars and Hollywood in general. Dumb is definitely not a word I’d use to describe her. She was sharp, quick witted, insightful and absolutely frickin hilarious.
She’s a very opinionated person and has had a lot of personal challenges in her life, but she’s no dummy. You might not agree with her all the time but she always has something intelligent or entertaining to say.
“Has no one ever told her she is dumb?
Ok so she was a star is a movie that came out 50 years ago and obviously after some work. Well this isn’t it.
Carrie, do us a favour, Shut up.”
Yeah, how could anyone possibly confuse the above statement with a personal criticism ;).
i don’t find her comments that riveting; but honestly, most of those films suck. i know there is no budget, etc, but damn it’s painful. the entire thing has nearly inspired me to buy a camera, video tape my friends, and label myself a director.
I totally agree. That insipidly stupid 3 minutes last night about a guy tending his orchard, labeled a “horror” film from the tree’s perspective was an absolute piece of shit. And the gal director got real defensive when the 3 judges said so.
