So now it’s much closer to the common cold and flu than HIV in transmission vectors.

That’s why only two people got ill from the first case in Dallas. The guy’s family didn’t even contract it, but it must be super contagious. I’m more worried about panic inspired by irrational fear than I am the Ebola itself.
Actually the economic impact of the irrational fear is what I fear the most.
How certain are we that we are getting accurately reported numbers on those getting infected here in the US?

I’m irrationally afraid that the irrational fear of economic disaster will cause irrational fear!
Thanks, Obama!

This is the type of thinking we get when we have ruling class that is constantly full of shit.

About a million times more certain than we are that we are not. The problem with most conspiracy theories is that they require people to do something they’re generally quite bad at doing, keeping their mouths shut. Especially when there would be no motivation to do so by the pathologists, doctors, nurses, administrators, etc. that would all have to be in on keeping the secret.
Naw you’re right to worry. The probably send the infected to the FEMA camps run by the lizard people. I could tell you where they are, but then the lizard people would get me.

I’m not an infectious disease specialist, but it sounds to me like Dr. Nass is full of shit.
Nass slammed the contradiction.
“The CDC said it doesn’t spread at all by air, then Friday they came out with this poster,” she said. “They admit that these particles or droplets may land on objects such as doorknobs and that Ebola can be transmitted that way.”
**
Yeah Doctor, droplets on a doorknob is not the same as airborne spread. This is not a contradiction. The CDC poster that has started this new panic says:
*“Droplet spread happens when germs traveling inside droplets that are coughed or sneezed from a sick person enter the eyes, nose or mouth of another person,” *
Try to stay away from that.

Duffy’s comment = WINNING

Dammit why can’t she be a multiple sneezer?!?

I think I’m in love.
Yes, I’m definitely in love (and I’m not even a tit guy).

It was on the CDC website.
Until it wasn’t
Ever see the Mythbuster on sneezes? I think one of them was shooting 10-15 feet or something like that.
I’ve been saying this all along and have been getting “Poo Poo’d” the entire time. If you can get infected by “Bodily fluids” simply getting into your nose, eyes etc, which is easily done as we all touch our face many times a day, then bodily fluids put on something with in some amount of time will remain active and you can get infected by it.
I’ve also been asking from day one HOW INFECTIOUS IS IT? If I dab a piece of goo in my eye that contains “X” number of virus what are the odds I will get infected? I can only assume that this is different for every disease. If John has the common cold and sneeze a goo blob that contains 10K virus and I stick my hand in that goo blob and wipe my eyes how do the odds of getting the common cold compare to Ebola. From what I’ve seen HIV is harder to get from this method then the common cold, Ebola appears to be easier to get the HIV in this method but more difficult then the common cold.
I don’t know the answer, but apparently neither do the medical professionals.
Also as I’ve stated a few times we typically don’t worry about this stuff with the common cold or flu because the odds of dieing from either of these is FAR less then Ebola. Ebola seems to be running 50-70% in non developed countries and will probably be somewhat less in developed ones, the cold, .001%, Flu .01%?

How would you plan on staying away from something that can be transmitted by droplets onto a surface and can survive outside of the body for an extended period? Do you touch nothing all day or wear gloves?

We have this new amazing technologically complex procedures known as ,…washing your hands. Give it a try, and rest easy, you’ll be safe.
Can Ebola be spread by coughing or sneezing? There is no evidence indicating that Ebola virus is spread by coughing or sneezing. Ebola virus is transmitted through direct contact with the blood or body fluids of a person who is sick with Ebola; the virus is not transmitted through the air (like measles virus). However, droplets (e.g., splashes or sprays) of respiratory or other secretions from a person who is sick with Ebola could be infectious, and therefore certain precautions (called standard, contact, and droplet precautions) are recommended for use in healthcare settings to prevent the transmission of Ebola virus from patients sick with Ebola to healthcare personnel and other patients or family members.
Was that intended as parody? Because if so, nice job.
I’m not understanding why so many people seem to be so invested in claiming that Ebola is no more contagious than, say, the HIV virus. That is pretty clearly not the case.
My operating theory at the moment is that some people got stuck in their knee jerk reaction against the over-hyped media coverage of Ebola.

I’m going to go with the recommendations of the infectious disease doctor who saw Ebola first hand in Africa who is convinced the outbreak if it happens here will be transmitted via phlegm mucus and other aerosolized bodily fluids and not by blood, urine, feces etc.
