I was cardioverted after 24 hours of afib that didn’t respond to any of the many drugs they tried at the hospital. Was then put on (I think) flecanide and metroprofol (or some such). Did that for a few months and it was fucking horrible with what I do for work so I asked them to get me off them. Doc said ‘I can do that, and I’ll probably see you in 6 months’. He was right - spot on 6 months. Cardioverted again, then scheduled the ablation and have been afib free for going on 9 years now. That included years of training up to half-iron distances.
Wow, 9 years is amazing.
