I have noticed a number of “new” (at least to me) brands of carbon wheelsets being sold on Ebay lately. There is an auction for Edge wheels that have a very deep rim and a few others (Matrix, Speedmax, etc.) Are these just wheelsets that are rebadged from the Taiwan factory? Anyone ever ride any of them?
These look pretty nice.
Those are the some of the wheels that I was referring to. There were no bids on them and the starting bid was around $700 which seemed like a pretty amazing deal. I also some some 50mm deep clinchers for around $500 from the same company.
They may be good wheels, who know it could be a couple of gangsters jacked a truckload of zipps as it left the factory but in his post are a couple of weird things that would make concerned about sending a grand to western austrailia.

I can’t find the pro triathlete that he references. *Grant Rainer *No such person on google. Very strange

The comments are duplicated by different people it would be unlikely that the same people used the same comment unless they cut an paste.
They are rebadged Tokens T5’s. If you want all the info look at Professional Cycling Discount. They are THE Token distrib… I have and race the T5’s for TT’s and T38’s for road racing. Very fast, Very stiff. Good warrenty.
Is it just me or do they look a lot like the Token wheels?
they are also the same wheels as the fabricated designs wheels that sell for 5x that amount… awesome wheels, love them!!
They are rebadged Tokens T5’s.
“rebadged Tokens”–that phrase is the ultimate in irony…
The wheels are made by Gigantex.
They’re fine wheels, as are most of their products, AKA PZRacing, Token, Karbona, Vellum, Planet X, Edge, etc, etc.
Man, there use to be some loyalty in the industry. Now, anyone with i-net access and a credit card can make the $1000.00 minimum order.
I’m glad I’m no longer in the bike industry…

hello,
can you post any links to your ebay ads?
any possibility of getting any clincher versions?
thanks.
Hi mate
This is the sets i sell… i only bring in Clincher as i tried Singles but seems to me people dont use them AS MUCH anymore
Sometime last year, a friend and I wanted to get into designing and marketing our own bike frames. The Taiwan factory that we were talking to offered these same wheels to us under our proposed brand. It looked cool with “swooshlike” indentions on the deep rims, supposed to have the same effects as dimples. The factory was supposed to send us test results for their claims, never came thru.
We never got around to closing the deal and my lifelong dream of becoming a frame designer went no where.
Here is a photo of the same wheels raw…

What factory was it? Gigantex?
can you please provide any data/information on the analysis or testing of these wheels?
I would be hesitant to purchase any knockoff carbon wheels, as I understand much of the testing protocol overseas. Additionally, can you please describe the process involved in designing those wheels (other than simply duplicating a mold from another manufacturer?).
If they are indeed designed, created, and tested independently, you will have a good market here on ST. Otherwise, be prepared for the backlash from most of the educated engineers ![]()
I attempted to communicate with the folks from Gigantex on a number of occasion. Knowing they produce products for many people, and additionally rebrand parts on their own names, I’d like to make sure they understand WHY a wheel is built the way it is.
However, they would provide me no information on their design, analysis, or testing processes. I know they are one of the bigger manufacturers of parts over there, but unless I know the people they are providing for actually did the engineering, I’d be VERY hesitant on purchasing product from them. (ever try and deal with a warranty issue directly with a company overseas? Those who have will probably chime in…)
Are you in Switzerland?
