Carbon Soloist for Tri

  1. With the proper setup is it possible to get as aero on the carbon soloist vs. a traditional tri bike?

  2. If so do you feel a spped advantage one way vs. another?

Looking for advice / opinions and planning to go long Full iron in 08 so trying to make a decision on a different frame.

Search the forum as this gets asked quite a bit - I even have several posts on it since I have done just that (IM LP last year).

But, to directly answer your question: NO - you can’t get as aero on it vs. a true bike. Headtube is too long. However, if you prefer the “big slam” position (esp for an IM bike leg), then it works reasonably well. But remember, it IS a road bike - just an aero one with internal cable routing, relatively short chainstays and headtube, and a reversible aero seatpost (that it doesn’t even come with).

GREAT road bike though for sure!

To a certain extent it depends on your dimensions but I can’t imagine spending that much on a bike if it is your only bike,
when you could get a really nice road bike and a really nice tri bike for the same total amount. If you are long legged/short torsoed
like me it works out ok.

Good luck.

I agree. If you are a Cervelo fan as I am, you could purchase a P2C and a Soloist Team for $200 less than an Soloist Carbon.
