Carbon Seatpost/Azoto - More comfort?

I have a circa 1989 Cannondale that is very stiff. As I have begun riding more cyclocross and mountain bikes I have become more aware of the road vibrations, etc. that are transmitted by the Cannondale up into my seat area. Does anyone have an opinion of how much a carbon seatpost might help? I am looking to upgrade the whole bike this fall/winter when the sales appear so I do not want to spend too much on the bike. (A good carbon post could be used on the new bike as well though).

Also, I really like my Rolls saddle but think that the padding in the nose area is starting to compress or go bad. I am thinking about an Azoto but would like an opinion on whether it works well in the normal riding position as well as in the aero position.

Thanks. David K

I have found that a carbon seat post seems a bit smoother over an aluminium one. As for the seat, that’s a very personal issue. What works for one person may not for the next. Haven’t bought an Azoto but I have a cardboard box full of saddles in my basement. The search for a truly comfortable one has so far eluded me.
