Is there any benefit to using a carbob seat post? Does it abosrb shock better or is it just lighter?
Any advice?

Read somewhere that it’s more hype than fact. Something about since it’s compressional forces you won’t notice a difference. But of course I still swapped out all my al posts for carbon ones. Also read that a titanium post is really the best way to go.
not really much absorbtion, but I swear that the Moots laidback does! Used it for MTB on my hardtail
Carbon posts are:
a) lighter
b) can be made into the most outlandish shapes
The only carbon post that I can say would absorb a teeny bit of shock would be the Corima, and it is scary if you’re over 170lbs.
I wish more would take advantage of the ability to make a carbon post into an outlandish shape.
I’ve just installed one and can’t really notice a difference. The only reason that I ended up buying it was that it was an awesome deal at the Toronto bike show and my old post was right on the line for minimum insertion and I wanted to move it up a little higher … plus the carbon looks really cool so I’m bound to be faster on it ![]()
