It is really significant for marketing purposes. Your tires will be much more significant for smoothing out your ride.
no its silly
.
So what’s with the tires?correct psi, wider tires…what about the rim width?does it matters?
I was thinking of running a 23 or 24mm tires on a 19mm rim…am I killing myself?
thanks dudes
anyone?
If I’m not mistaken the current consensus is to run a tire width similar to your rim size, optimally 23mm. A 23mm tire on a HED Ardennes or a handbuilt 36-spoke wheel seems to be the ST consensus for the optimal training wheel.
If comfort is an issue,
wider tires tend to be more comfy than narrow tires
less pressure tends to be more comfy than more
and faster tires (see biketechreview.com for rolling resistance tests) tend to be MORE comfy than slower tires (yay!)
now when you factor in wanting to go fast, then it all gets complicated, you don’t want 25mm tires in a triathlon.
23mm works well on almost all wheels and if you run the correct pressure for your weight, you should be fine.
if you want to go aero weenie you can drop down to a 19mm tire up front which may be less comfy.
if you search the innerwebs you can find a nice chart on optimum tire pressures from michelin or others. 120psi max only for heavier riders, then down from there depending on weight is the rule of thumb

Carbon seatstays will make the bike slightly more comfortable (though not as marked an improvement as a carbon fork). The benefit is minor, and 5psi of tire pressure or a more padded saddle will make a bigger difference.
I have a carbon post, but am not a big fan of them. It adds almost nothing to comfort, modestly decreases weight vs. a high-end Al post, and they are subject to aggravating slippage issues.
so i guess that there isnt any serious detrimental effects in running a 23 or 24mm tires on a 19mm rim?
Thanks

…but a Ti bike is more comfortable for long distances, if you are comparing to aluminium as the standard
would an all al frameset with bladed tubes w/ al aero post offer a harsher ride than a rounded tube frameset? with regard to tire pressue and the riders weight, i currently weigh 170lbs now and i run 100 psi on 23 wide tires, will this be ok? i
ve just switched to an all al road frameset from a litespeed \blade (1999-650c)
I run a Thomson elite seatpost on an Elite TClass. All alumunimum, the best tri bike ride I’ve ever had and no carbon on the entire bike but the fork.
would it make any difference if your post was bladed? but then again the roads need to be really that bad to feel the hard vibrations
