Carbon frame in raptor thye carrier

Quick question, does any one use a Yakima raptor rack for a carbon frame? I generally put my bike inside a car but might have to travel with it on top of the car. I am quite hesitant to do this, the bike is a KM40 and it seems to me the jaws of the raptor might clamp down on the frame to tightly, I also just dont like the idea of my bike on top of a car

I used a fork mount (steelhead) to carry my bike back and forth to Boulder from Detroit. The bike was a bit buggy when i got there, but nothing a little warm soapy water couldn’t handle. I like the fork mount Alot better than the Jaw types because the bike seems more secure and the front wheel isn’t moving in the wind.

I know that nobody likes putting an expensive bike on top of the car but sometimes it si the only option.

You are right…you NEVER want to clamp a carbon tube. The carbon is not layed up to resist those sorts of forces. Unless you have a fork mount…forget putting your carbon bike outside of the car.
