Carbo pro (1)

does anyone use carbo pro? i think i am going to start training with it and maybe use at IMCDA. How many scoops are you supposed to put in a 16 ounce water bottle and drink per hour.

suggestions?

I love it - depends on how many calories you want to squueze into a bottle but I have been able to run 10 scoops for 1300 calories - with no problems at all.

its a good source of kcals. just load your bottles depending on desired hourly cal intake. flavor w/ gatorade or something. also, it doesnt have electrolytes so you might want to supplement. i used to use it but now prefer one 750ml bottle of mildly diluted gel.

Switched to it last year and I believe it was instrumental in my best Iron Man to date - yes the calorie count is high but I believe it’s best feature is the taste or lack there of - in all the other drinks I have I usually like the composition but struggled with the taste - especially while excercising - perpeteum, accelerade and so on are all great products - just hated the taste and couldn’t take on enough while racing. With Carbo Pro I create my own flavour that I know I can tolerate - for the first time in an Iron Man I executed 90% of my nutrition strategy…for the bike I take 3 bottles and leave one in special needs - only one bottle is mixed with water - the other 2 are just powder - wide mouthed bottles - I pick up water from the tables and mix as I go…I use gatorade (various flavours) for taste.

So when you mix it that strong, you just take a sip of the mix and then wash it down with a good amount of water to keep the correct concentration? I was thinking about trying to put up to 2500 cals in a bottle, have you tried that much?

Thanks,
-C

I don’t think you can fit that much Carbo Pro in a bottle. I usually fill the bottle about 80% with powder and add water. Believe it or not, no problem disolving with that concentration. I think it is about 1200 or so calories per bottle.

Make sure you take on salt somehow if you use this approach.
