I use DashCommand for diagnostics on several vehicles, which it seems to do well. Haven’t used it much for performance tracking.

Make sure you read up on what hardware interface you will need. If I remember right, you will need a wifi compatible adapter (not cheap) since the iPhone BT is pretty locked down.

However, if your phone is jailbroken, you can use a much cheaper BT interface through roqyBT7 off of Cydia. I am currently using this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009F4JHHO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The BT configuration with roqyBT7 can be a little finicky, but once connected it seems to be stable. Some additional reading on the adapter and roqyBT7: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=753346

Hope this helps.

I bought a cheap wireless (iPhone/iPad ) one on Amazon. For diagnostics only. Under 50 bucks for sure. May have been closer to 20. I used Dash command with it.

I did not use it for performance but I am sure it could be used that way.

It was blue and orange I have no idea what brand.

Go OBD/WiFi if using Apple, they are not BT friendly. If you have Android, the OBD/BT works out of the box.

Waste of time really…

HPTuners or tuning software for your specific model of vehicle on the other hand…

thanks for the links and info y’all.

performance as i want it is just to monitor actual numbers, i don’t like idiot gauges and lights. it’s a jeep, i’m not racing anything, i’m a nerd, i like data.
i’m using an iPhone 5s, may be getting a 6, do i understand correctly that wifi is better than the bluetooth? i would not have thought that, but thanks. and that led me to wonder whether the phone could be connected to an obd reader via BT while at the same time connected to my radio? hence another reason to go wifi.

because it is a jeep, i consider most gauges as having more value for entertainment purposes vs conveying accurate information. it’s a jeep thing.

i’ll prob give this one a shot.

Actually, on a Jeep this can be good info. and I’m looking into how to hack ODBII for wheeling:

Transmission temp highTransfer case temp highOil pressure and temperatureVolts (for when using the winch)Front/Rear diff/Front or Rear Locker engagedPitch/Angle of inclination/declination (how steep)Roll angle (how much side-to-side)CompassEtc.
Torque pro is a good app for tracking speed and other things.

Oh, and a clock. My 1996 Cherokee doesn’t have a clock lol

I am pretty sure that is the one that I have. It looks slightly different though.

Mine looks like the one under where it says “Frequently purchased together”.

Good luck.

neither does my 06 lj. i love how the cj series jeep manual runs from the early 40’s(???) to mid 80’s.
