OK - so fess up - how many of us could still enter this thing, or in the past would have had a qualifying entry in some of the categories.
I have owned a handful of the possible entrants, and worked on a great many more when I was sidelining doing repairs for friends. Renaults, IH, vacuum carbs, leaking Jags - too many stories to relate easily.
I bet there may even be a few Canadians that could enter some early Hyundai and Lada vehicles that never made it to the US (Friend of mine had a Lada - OMG what a death trap).
just between us and everyone here on ST, i have 2 or 3 right here in our house that could be grand prize winners. can i enter it in parts, or does the shit wagon have to be put all together?
(put together might be a deal breaker though…see, these shit wagons are in parts…)
When I worked at a gas station we had a customer who drove a Pinto. He would usually need about 5 gallons of gas to fill up and would need 2-3 qts of oil. A few unfortunate customers drove AMC Pacers. They were wider than most cars so most of them had a fair amount of damage to the passenger side. Former GF’s Fiat seemed to spontaneously generate filth which plugged multiple fuel filters.
it was blue, with an orange trunk and a brown door. smokin’!
the floorboard on the passenger side was punched out too because my mother would jab her high heel into it when Dad’s driving scared her. LOL
'74 Pinto stationwagon
'60 Renault Dauphine
'67 VW bug
'64 VW bug that I rolled. Bought a '60 body and made a Frankenbug with parts from various sources. It would have been perfect for this car show.
I also had a 1949 Interntional Harvester step van that was retired from UPS and conveted into a camper. That would have been another big winner.
