In case you know Walt and would like to attend his memorial: Walt was killed after being struck from behind by a car while riding his bicycle in a San Diego neighborhood on January 6th just a few blocks from my home. Walt was 55, a graduate of the Naval Academy, an accomplished Naval Officer and Naval Flight Officer with several prestigious commands (E-2 community). He was an avid marathoner and cyclist. I first met Walt about thirty years ago when he stood as the best man at my brother Marc’s wedding in Carpinteria California. They were classmates at Annapolis and both made a profession of arms over a span of 30 years. Not many men who reach Commodore are as well respected and liked as Walt was; a true people person. Walt is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sue, daughter Emily and son Erik.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00am, Friday, January 16, at the MCAS Miramar Chapel in San Diego.
