Anyone know about the new version of this bike? I know they are hard to come by in the USA since they have no US distribution.

Supposedly a road version of their tt bike?
Are they aero or faux aero?
Is ride quality good?
It sure looks cool- Seems like a good deal for a DI2 bike.
In Germany it feels like every third road bike is a Canyon, the Aeroad is the exotic of them. It has a good reputation (black magic of aerodynamics) and is the most successful bike in the pro peleton of the last years. The numbers should not be bad, even there is no objective data yet …
I will soon be testing one of them, so I guess that means they have plans to come stateside.
They have legit engineers at Canyon, should be legit aero.
Herbert- thanks and keep me posted as to your opinion.
Jackmott- glad,to hear that you think it has potential.
They work together with scientific engineers at the University Kaiserslautern & a bureau in Darmstadt that developed the design …
Nifty solution with the spacers and the integrated bar combo scored high with reviewers.
Shame it’s too long and low for me, their non-aero offerings fit perfect.
The original aeroad tested pretty poorly in a tour test but this model looks much better though I haven’t seen data.
Yes I’ve ridden this bike, and it is an amazing bike. I’m one of the few US residents that has the Speedmax CF but had a chance to use the Aeroad for about a week. I think it lives up to the hype for sure.
Bump, anyone come across any data for this frame? I assume it is too early as they haven’t quite started shipping to customers yet. Has Canyon released any thing like a white paper or data for it?
They said the new Aeroad is 19% more aerodynamic than it’s predecessor. But I don’t think the gave exact data. The frame is 40g and stiffer than the older one and there are many small improvements here and there. Overall considering the predecessor was so succesful in the world tour races I don’t think you will make a mistake buying one…
Thanks. More of an academic and curiosity question. I’m curious to see how it stacks up against the Cervelo S5 + S3 and the Felt AR which I think are industry leading in terms of aero. I’m curious if the Canyon is more like them, or more like the Scott Foil.
Doesn’t matter anyways as I live in the USA and can’t get one unless I do the big roundabout of shipping it to someone in Europe and then shipping it here.
I think there are some companies than can forward a parcel from Europe to the US.
You’ve also got a forum of people, many of whom live in Europe, who could help getting one out to you.
The predecessor may have been raced well but in the tour mag aero test it had drag equivalent to non-aero frames.
Am I the only one that thinks of this when I hear the name of this bike:
This one? It lost 78 seconds to the Cervelo S5 over 100km. What is that, like 12-15w?

I was thinking of this data: http://djconnel.blogspot.com/2011/02/tour-test-of-aero-mass-start-frames.html
I think that’s probably more like 7-8 watts (.5s/km = 5 watts)
.
Not bad prices, if Euro crashes further once they announce the QE measures, can become very attractive.
Speedmax Pro 2014 model (DA Di2, Reynolds Strike) 5300E, with Zipp 404/808 FC CC, 6300E, hmmmm
That test was for the original Canyon Aeroad CF. The new version would be a fair amount quicker in comparison. I got my Canyon Aeroad CF SLX a few weeks ago (Christmas Present to myself), but due to weather (heavy rain and wind) have not taken it out yet. Feels pretty solid and lighter in comparison to the old Aeroad which I had as well, but which was sold last year as never really fell in love with it!
Only parts missing are still the Stages powermeter and upfront garmin mount, and yes need to cut the fork!
So with weather looking up, will take it for a nice test ride next week.
