Can't stand the wait!

I just got off the phone with the LBS, and my new Cervelo R2.5 Chorus has been delayed…again. Apparently now there is a shortage of carbon fiber, so the frame hasn’t been produced yet. I ordered the bike in mid-April, and originally they said it would deliver in mid-May. Now I’m being told mid-July…maybe.

Anybody in the same situation? Misery loves company…

My bank account told me that I can’t order my P3 until the end of summer. Luckily my LBS told me they won’t be able to get any new cervelos in until approximately 2008. So I should be able to save up enough by then.

I know this may be hard to hear…there are other bikes out there…some even better than Cervelo…

"some even better than Cervelo… "

Now you’ve done it…

First I expected Tom D to be on here like flies on sh!t complaining about people complaining and now this…

“Apparently now there is a shortage of carbon fiber”

There has been an ongoing shortage of carbon fiber since last fall. This is nothing new.

Aw hell, I’ll say it. We are spending thousands of dollars, we have the right to bitch. It won’t get us anywhere, but when we are spending that much money we tend to get impatient. People should at least respect that it’s not the LBS’s fault.

Tom should just employ a grief counselor to sit on that leather couch and talk people through these tough times.

You and this guy: http://forum.slowtwitch.com/gforum.cgi?post=435324;search_string=p3c;#435324 need to get together to console each other.

BTW, April is waaaay too late to be ordering a bike the the R2.5.

Now, did your LBS say that YOUR bike WOULD be delivered in mid-May? Or that Cervelo would be shipping R2.5s in mid-May?

The weird thing is originally I was told the hold up was the components. Then it was the wheels. Now it’s the frame!? How many more parts can delay this thing?

I know once that baby shows up, it will be pretty sweet. Especially since I’m currently riding a Trek 1400 (circa 1990-ish) with Shimano 105, shifters on the down tube, etc.

I would say you were due for an upgrade. If this is what you really want, stay the course. It will be worth the wait.

I’m in the same situation. I’m waiting for five of them in various sizes. Only thing, mine aren’t “late” per se, as the manufacturer never quoted me an exact delivery date- so we didn’t quote one to our customers.

They are nice bikes though. When you get it, you will enjoy it. I have an R2.5 team. Very, very nice.

I’m gonna hijack this thing like gary oldman in air force one -

Tom, how does the r2.5 compare to the new bianchi? Like, how stiff is the BB on the r2.5 ?

Inquiring minds want to know -

Neither compare to the B2 Carbon.

“we have the right to bitch.”

Defintely, in fact if you were promised a time you not only have the right to bitch but the right to cancel the order and get something else.

I think Tom’s point is well taken. This is the way the bike industry is so live with it. Your only reprive is as Record stated get something else. Apparently some of these MFG’r have so much work that they don’t think they have to fill orders in a timely fashion. I suspect others are not doing so well and would jump at the chance of selling you a bike.

I know the situation I’m in it’s deliver on time or get the order canceled AND your @ss chewed. Then you loose a customer and never get another order. I also know that my customers aren’t calling up my vendors bitching them out because they aren’t delivering product…that would be my job. Shit rolls downhill…

A shortage of carbon fiber. Is that because of the wildcat strikes at the South American carbon mines I’ve been hearing about?
