Can't seat trainer tire

I absolutely cannot stretch the last 3-4" of my new Conti trainer tire up over the lip of my rim. Anyone have any tricks?

Like I’ve recommended before, patience, beer, and lots of profanity.

The usual order is profanity, beer, then patience.

Also try putting the tire in the drier for a minute; should help it stretch a bit more easily (Not my fault when if it smells like snuggle on your next ride)

Shouldn’t you be taking the trainer tires off right about now? That’s my plan for this evening. Woohoo!

.

When I installed mine, it took about 4 minutes compared to the usual minute for a complete tire change. It certainly wasn’t as easy as the Michelin’s I normally run, but it really wasn’t that hard. I installed it without a tire iron (i do use a tir iron to take tires off though). The biggest trick is to use the geometry of the wheel as your friend. The diameter of the wheel is smaller in the grove, think the middle of the rim tape. I stand up and hold the wheel vertical at my feet. Pinch the tire toward the center of the rim tape and pull/stretch downward. When you reach the final four inches, just roll it on with your palm. Everyone I hand out indoor trainers too, I recommend a indoor trainer tire and fan nearby.

Welcome to the club. My trick was to dump the Conti and get the Tacx.
