Cane Creek disc questions

Somebody in my area would like to trade me his brand new Cane Creek disc for some of my old gear. Question #1…He claims it’s a Zipp with different stickers. True? Question #2…Is Cane Creek really getting out of the road wheel business? Just wondering for warranty purposes.

I’ve heard that Cane Creek does use Zipp hoops (the non-dimpled “Flashpoint” ones) for their carbon wheelsets, but they are not “rebadged” Zipps. They are built using only the rims with different spokes and hubs.

I wasn’t aware that Cane Creek sells a Disk wheel, unless you’re talking about the Volos Disc, which uses disc brakes (is not a disk wheel). Sounds a bit fishy to me.

It’s just a undimpled Zipp disc. They use undimpled Zipp hoops for their deep wheels, so for the sake of team riders, they just use the Zipp disc. This is pretty common. Blackwell, Zero, Bontrager (prior to the Aeolus), and many other discs are all just the undimpled Zipp disc with different stickers. Can’t help with whether or not Cane Creek is getting out of the road wheel business…
