Cancun all inclusive.....which one?

Need suggestions. booking today.

Cancun only or Playa del Carmen area too? If so the Iberostar and RIU are about equal quality and a pretty good value. Good reviews of all Mexico resorts here.

If you don’t need to be in Cancun proper, the Xpu Ha Palace and Aventura Spa Palace are wonderful. I loved the former, as it has little bungaloes instead of a big hotel, and there is kayaking, snorkeling, scuba, etc. all on site.

I definitely second the recommendation of the Aventura Spa Palace and Resort in Playa del Carmen.

Any Palace resort. I’ve been to them all. Just got back from Sun Palace. Top notch for couples. Adventura is nice for couples too. Coz Palace for diving. Moon Palace is 20% off right now if you like golf. If you do want to go to a Palace pm me. I am a member and they have a promo where I can give you my rates right now.

edit: Just noticed that kids stay free. New promotion. Must be the recession.

Have you looked at Ixtapa rather than Cancun? Supposed to be more pristine, with less tourists, etc…
Ixtapa is definitely on my to go list! (with Greece)

Francois, it was pristine until it became a major cruise ship stop. I’d say hordes of tourists would be the right word.

Damn…so better go to Cancun? Or where else? Huatulco?

I’ve been reading lots of reviews saying that the beaches down in Playa are basically gone after the storms last year. Even the Xhu pa palace says the beach is gone and you’ll have to go to next resort down to swim.

Are you trying to work on your ‘boiler’ for Triple T motivation?

Sun Palace looks sweet…get a picture of yourself passed out by the pool

It is towards the south end of the hotel zone, but I highly recommend the Tucancun. Stayed there twice and will again if we go back to Cancun - we enjoy Isla Mujeres more now.

Depends on what you want. Wifey and I stayed outside of Cancun on the Riveria Maya for our honeymoon. Had our own casita at El Dorado Royale. It was AWESOME. Very quiet and romantic. Food was really really good as opposed to alot of AI’s. If you are looking for the party crowd, not the right place. If you are looking for romance and relaxation, it would be hard to beat.

Riveria Maya is about 30 - 60 minutes south of Cancun proper.

Another Palace resorts member here - we love Playacar palace - close to town and the ferry to Cozumel. A good 4.2 mile route to run right out of the lobby - smaller resort but the staff gets to know you and are very attentive. Downside - not much beach - but just walk to the right and there is plenty to beachcomb…

There are so many variables for picking a resort - large/small - in/out of town - kids/no kids - if you have more info we could probably help narrow it down for you…

been to playa before on our honeymoon. Would go back again. Mainly looking to relax w/o a lot of spring breakers.
I’ve heard the playa beaches are in bad shape with last years storms??

Went to Isla Mujeres in January and they lost about 10 - 20 ft of beach on the east side of the island. I can vouche that the Puerto Juarez ferry, in Cancun, lost about 10ft of beach.

Where would be best to avoid the spring break crowd? Tulum?

We stayed on the north shore of Cancun in late Dec - the beaches there were fantastic…maybe 100’ deep or more.

The eastern shore beaches were thin and rocky. Maybe 10-15 feet in places, or less. We saw people out as early as 6am securing chairs on those beaches, because there aren’t enough spots for the number of people who are staying in the hotels. No thanks.

We ended up staying at the Ambiance Villas – not an all-inclusive, very minimalist rooms. No bar, but nice pool, best beach I’ve ever seen, easy access to everything else due to bus stop right there. A good place to stay if all you plan to use the room for is sleeping at night. Breakfast is included and was excellent.

Just got back about three weeks ago from the Sandos Playacar Resort in Playa del Carmen. No complaints.

Also, look into avoiding grad week. Nothing worse than thousands of 18 year olds who can “legally” drink, but cannot yet handle theirselves or their liquor. They were all over Cancun. Made the trip less enjoyable.

I agree Palace resorts are nice spent honeymoon there a few years ago. The Xpu Ha was awesome, nice beach and quaint. The Moon Palace was nice but beach was not usable due to weeds from reef offshore. But enjoyed the palace resorts overall.
