For the Canadians in the crowd… what Canadian branded sports nutrition products do you use now, or have in the past?
Gruppo Nutrition based in Windsor ON (local to me).
Darcy is awesome to deal with. He used to run Infinit Nutrition Canada before he split w them.
The Gruppo version works same or better and taste’s better than Infinit.
There’s pre-made mixes or you can tune your own ‘recipe’ - you can control how much carbs, strength of the flavor, caffeine level (or no caffeine), etc. He can also do a consultation w you to tune it to your needs.
He also has protein ice coffee - for recovery.
Also use Darryl’s hi-energy protein bars for post swims. Also happens to be local here in Windsor, I sometimes will buy right from the factory when I can (otherwise in local stores).
Wouldn’t the most Canadian thing be just to drink maple syrup?
That has been my go to this past couple years. Get the Costco pure maple syrup and slug it into a Gatorade. I probably should measure something, but just take a drink and fill to top with he Canadian gold..
Xact fruit bars and Naak drinks and recovery bars. I tried Brix but prefer making my own maple syrup stuff in a flask.
Thanks for your responses so far folks… keep them coming. The motivation for the question comes from when I noticed that yet another Canadian pro is jumping on the Precision Nutrition bandwagon, when there are plenty of Canadian companies who make similar stuff.
Costco/Kirkland brand maple syrup into a hammer gel flask (holds about 4-5 ‘gels’ worth), held to my stem with two sided velcro.
Despite them having a quote and photo of Lionel Sanders on their site, I love and use Endurance Tap gels.
Maple syrup, ginger and salt.
They also make gels with caffeine.
Ginger is the ace ingredient. Natural anti-nauseant.
F2C Nutrition is also out of Maple Ridge, BC. Decent stuff.
Sun River Honey, I think bailed out one of the Muskoka races last year, makes gels that are good. Maybe avoid the grass flavoured matcha one.
Krono Nutrition has gels, chews and electrolyte drinks.
Wakewater Electrolytes are Canadian. You can find them at Costco. Similar to LMNT and much cheaper.
Cwench is Canadian. Aimed more at hockey bros but their drinks aren’t terrible.
