Canada's best and swim coach techniques

So I’m asstant coaching a group of young Triathlete’s out of Victoria called Team X. I think they call themselves that because there’s about 3 Y chromosomes in the bunch.

I was on deck this morning with 5 of the young ladies and swimming in the lane next to them were Kyle Jones, Brent McMahon, Colin Jenkins and Simon Whitfield - 4 of Canada’s top 5 ITU racers.
Talk about some nice swimming!
I find watching those dolphins swim quite helpful as far as watching how it should be done, visualizing you doing it yourself and then applying it.
The girls wanted nothing to do with that.

Anyone else here coach swimmers? Share some of your teaching techniques/tricks to get your swimmers excited.

Clint

I know our Masters coach always start out by saying, “Tonight we have an awsome workout.” He says the same thing every Monday and Thursday and after hearing for the 5000th time you begin to believe it! Honestly most of his workouts are pretty good and he is really good at mixing things up.

If you lie enough you start to believe your own lies.
Clint’s Grandma

I always start each workout for the gang with some pithy little saying written at the top of the workout. They seem to get a kick out it.
Stuff like - “Winners never quit and quiters never win but a guy who never wins and never quits is an idiot.”

LOL - I like that…
