Can this be done without damaging the tire–I don’t have a spare tubular rim at the moment, but need to stretch a spare.
I did that with my spare. GOt it on and then left it over night.
Speaking of that I’ve got to glue up my new race wheels before racine.
works fine
.
I do… got two dented rims from the LBS for free for dedicated stretching rims.
Sure - works like a charm.
I’m surprised most people don’t do this. Go to a garage sale and buy some $15 dork rocket, hoof the bike and just use the rims for stretching your tubs over…
Funny, and here I’ve been asking every bike shop wrench if they had any old tubular rims they want to get rid of so I could stretch my tires!! Go figure!
Thanks.

Crap! You mean I am supposed to be stretching my rims to! ![]()
If you stretch your rims then you really have to stretch your tyres well…
But if you’re careful, it’s the best way to convert 650’s to 700c.

I am just afraid of not stretching them enough, and then I would end up with an odd number of spoke holes.
