Can you mount vision armrests onto the aerobars without spacers?

Anybody out there that tried to mount the carbon armrest plates directly onto the aluminum clip-on bars without the use of the spacers?
Thanks, Hein

I tried this a few months back but found that it was a tad too low for me, so I put the short spacers back. If I remember correcty, you will need shorter screws (from a hardware store) and a couple washers to act as small spacers because the screw holes are recessed in. I also think that the armrests will need to be screwed in to the narrowest armrest position, because otherwise the bottom of the armrest will hit the aerobar. Know what I’m talking about?

You need the spacers. They serve as a washer to mount the armrests. The armrests-bar joint will be weak and wobbly without them. I trimmed my washers down to 2-3mm. The armrest curved bottom sits just 2mm above the basebar now – as low as it can go without sitting right on the bar. That way, I still get a little bit of suspension, and avoid any rattling. You can see the small gap under the right elbow pad in this pic:

Hi,

Yes you can.

I have done it on several bikes…BUT.

You will have to use the Vision Base bar (or the bottom of the arm rest will rest too heavily against the base bar)

You will have to use the middle or narrowest mount position (for same reasons as above)

You will need shorter mounting bolts (which are the same head style and thread dimension as SPD mounting bolts)

It worked well to lower my deck height up front and reduce the height differential between my pads and R-Bend extensions…a change that my forearms were thankful for.

Hope this helps

Thanks guys. Just the info I was looking for.

yeah, but you’ll need lots of duct tape
